Update Services – An Intermediate Bloggers Must Know

If you’re reading this, chances are, you have a blog.

If you have a blog, chances are, you want people to read it(that’s you :P).

If you want people to read it, you need to figure out what sort of Update Services your blog of choice uses. I say Update Services because Wordpress uses Update Services(keys? :O).

Basically, using Wordpress, by default, Update services pings a site called Pingomatic.

What this does is tells Pingomatic to ping many other sites and let them know that you’ve updated your blog(like anyone cares).

Now then, if you’re interested in a decent list of the working services that will ping other working sites for you, you may want to use a list like this one:

http://rpc.pingomatic.com
http://www.blogpeople.net/servlet/weblogUpdates
http://bulkfeeds.net/rpc
http://ping.myblog.jp
http://ping.bloggers.jp/rpc/
http://bblog.com/ping.php
http://api.feedster.com/ping
http://ping.amagle.com/
http://ping.blo.gs/
http://ping.rootblog.com/rpc.php
http://ping.weblogalot.com/rpc.php
http://rcs.datashed.net/RPC2/
http://rpc.blogbuzzmachine.com/RPC2
http://rpc.newsgator.com/
http://www.blogoon.net/ping/
http://www.blogsnow.com/ping
http://www.blogstreet.com/xrbin/xmlrpc.cgi
http://www.lasermemory.com/lsrpc/
http://www.newsisfree.com/RPCCloud
http://www.snipsnap.org/RPC2

Chances are most of these sites will work for you, as this list was compiled from many recent lists. If you’re too lazy to deal with all of this, blogs like Wordpress already have one site included for you which will ping many other sites, Pingomatic, which was spoke of above.

If you don’t understand most of this, forgive me, I haven’t been writing in a while, so here’s a link that will hopefully help you understand a bit more:

Have a fruitful day!
